9 Websites You Should Know About If You Like Reading

Looking for websites to help you geek out (even more)?

There are so many great, bookish websites where you can satisfy pretty much all of your bookish needs and craving. Do you need recommendations? Free books? Literary news? Insights into your own reading habits? A book community where you can voice your own opinions? You've come to the right place - this list has it all!

Perhaps the most well known book community and reviewer site, Goodreads leads the pack. I first discovered Goodreads in 2010 and have been active here ever since. It's a community where you can rate, review and receive recommendations as well as join book clubs, interact and build relationships with other users.

Unsure of what to read next? What Should I Read Next has your back. Type in one of your favourite books or authors and What Should I Read Next gives you a list of recommendations based on what you like.

Have you ever started a series before all of the books had been published? If you have, you could probably benefit from the help of Book Series Recaps. When the newest book in your favourite series comes out, you don't have to go back and read all the previous books - you just go to Book Series Recap. Here you can find detailed resumes of all the books in the most popular book series today. No more starting a new book, unsure of what happened in the book before!

If you're like me then you enjoy a good bargain, especially when it comes to books! BookBub sends you handpicked ebook deals that are unbeatable! Ranging all the way from free to 'dang, that's cheap' you're sure to get a bunch of new books for your already dangerous TBR pile.

Like What Should I Read Next, Whichbook is also a book recommendation site. However, Whichbook does things a bit differently. It doesn't find you recommendations based on genre, favourite books or authors - it goes by mood. Are you in the mood for happy or sad? Easy or demanding? Short or long? Set the scale on 12 different mood pairs and find the perfect book for you current mood.

If you enjoy reviewing books and would like to get your hands on new book before they get published, then look no further than NetGalley. You have the opportunity to request a wide variety of unpublished books in exchange for reviews on Goodreads, Amazon or your blog (if you have one). There are both sought after books by popular authors as well as indie books and debut authors. Whatever you're after, NetGalley has it.

Like NetGalley, BookSirens is also a Review site where you can get your hands on unpublished books. However, where NetGalley have many books by famous, established authors, BookSirens deals more with indie authors. But ARCs (Advance Readers Copies) are not the only thing, that BookSirens has to offer. If you let BookSirens have insight into your social media and Goodreads accounts, BookSirens can calculate your reading, rating and reviewing habits. Do you tend to agree or disagree with other reviewers? Which of your reviews is the most popular? What is your social reach? What genre do you read the most? BookSirens can answer all these questions and many more.

Project Gutenberg has more than 60,000 ebooks that you can download for free - and it's completely legal! The books (and other texts) are public domain books, meaning that they have no 'intellectual property rights' either because they have expired or been forfeited. That of course means, that many of the books you can find here are of an older date - before 1924 - but that still leaves many amazing titles for you to chose from!

If you're more into literary news then Literary Hub is the site for you. Get articles, essays, interviews, debates and opinions from Literary Hub's critics and partners. It's smart, engaging and literary - all the best when it comes to books.
